Internet Safety Facts

Pro's- Fun way to learn, helps learn fine motor skills of typing and using a mouse, makes you more technological advanced, educational interactive games, listening to stories in a different way, and learning about world issues.

Con's- Bad websites, scams, fraud, pop-up's, technological difficulties, something going wrong with the computer, not as hands on experiences, and you cant monitor their work as well.

There are pro's and con's about the internet. Using this is something that every teacher does, all you have to do it monitor the students!

Internet Safety in the Classroom

One way i plan on making the internet a safe place in my classroom is by making each computer have a password that each student has that protects their own privacy and when they log in, it allows them certain interactive websites to choose from. I would teach the students how that the pop-ups that appear on the screens sometimes are not real and bad and that they shouldnt click on them. I would make sure they were fully aware of the good and bad things about the internet.

Internet Safety

One issue that comes to mind when talking about technology is Internet Safety. There are many websites that children do not need to go to on the web. This is such an issue when you allow the students to surf the web during free time. They should be monitored very well, but sometimes you cant catch it all. I think having only a few websites for the student to choose from is a good idea and to make sure you monitor them as much as you can.

Classroom Website

The second assignment that we did was creating the classroom website. This was my favorite thing! I loved making this and i think that it will be such an assest to when i have my own classroom. By having my own classroom website, parents can check it daily for new assignments and homework that their child has due the next day. Not only can parents check this to keep up with what their child is doing, other teachers can get on my website and come up with new ideas for their own classroom. This will improve the students learning because there will be a student page that has new interactive videos for them to watch weekly and websites for them to prepare for the week. This is a way of technology method since its a online website and its more convenient for parents. We would also be "going green" because announcements that i would send home on paper, would just be posted on the website!

Portaportal

Today we did the assignment that taught us how to use a portaportal. This was very interesting! It is such a good way to incorporate technology in my future classroom! By having this portaportal, students can just go to it while they are at home and on their own time and go to websites that relate to what we are doing in class. The traditional method of reading a book is a good way for students to think and learn, but something that the student will be more interested in is new technological ways. This makes the student more excited to learn each and every day!

Technology in the Classroom

One thing that we learned today that i plan to use in my classroom is the portaportal. This is such a good way for students, parents, and other teachers can use to find games and other interactive things for their child or classroom! There are so many different activities that you find on my portaportal and it is something that will be very beneficial in my future classroom. Technology is so much better than just having a child read a book, when he or she could listen to it on the computer while watching an online story about it. I cant wait to have my own classroom and incorporate technology with it!

Technology in the Classroom

One thing that is becoming very important and a main aspect of the classroom is technology. Everyday new inventions of technology are released and students are exposed to many more new ideas. Incorporating technology into the classroom is important for the students life. One thing that i thought was interesting that we learned about was smart boards. This is something that i could use in my classroom and would make learning so fun! The students like to do new things so this would be something i could do to interest them. Technology is going to be the main part of our future, so i try to stay as up to date as possible on all new things.
